Before going out to buy or adopt a new puppy or adult dog, take a little time and make sure you are well prepared. A good dog care is quite a responsibility and there are many factors to consider. Here are 6 basic tips to help you prepare for the arrival of the new pet.

All dogs need plenty of daily exercise - it is take care of much of the big dog. With a toy dog breed that is relatively easy to accomplish - it is usually enoughExercise every day just walking from one end of the house to the other. But with a medium to large dog, it's a different story. They require a decent - size fenced yard, or a daily walk every day.

A healthy puppy or adult dog should have bright and clear eyes - with no signs ofMucus or discharge. Her ears are clean and free of parasites. You should be straight, not limp on foot. And her skin is free of sores or bald spots. Be sure to ask for all the registration papers and medical records before the adoption of a dog.

It is a continuous process, and some dogs are more rapid progress than others. But if you are persistent enough and you spend time and effort you eventually have a fully trained dog.

Try to give your dog a good food designed for their particular stage of life. Quality food can be a little more expensive than the generics, cheap variety - but you'll save money at the end of the long term. Your dog willhealthier and will not require as many trips to the vet.

  2. I think this is a really great article, and agree on how important it is to ensure that you’re totally prepared with the correct supplies before venturing out to buy any animals, especially a pet as high maintenance as a puppy.

When I bought my first puppy, it was really difficult until she was properly trained and we’d began to get accustomed to each other’s idiosyncrasies. I’d recommend placing newspaper around the floors of your home for at least the first two weeks of owning your puppy -they obviously need to get accustom to their new environment (and hopefully not at the expense of your luxurious carpet!).

I’d also recommend buying a few accessories for your dog - such as a sturdy leech (avoid the retractable types, as they’re never strong enough) and perhaps a device for picking up dog mess while you’re taking them for walks (such as a Dicky Bag, http://www.dickybag.com).

Thanks again for the great article, I’ll look forward to more in the future!
